As a Cinema major I have big passion for film and visual media. In my opinion film and other visual media have an important place in society. These mediums not only entertaining us but can also be used as agents of change.
I have five years of experience with visual media, creating shorts for school, participating in the production of documentaries, editing and filming. I have experience using Flash for basic animation, Final Cut Pro for film editing and other software such as Audacity for sound editing. I feel comfortable with other editing software (PC and MAC) as well.
In 2007 I collaborated in the production of the film Don’t Cost Nothin’ to Dream (see below).
This is the Trailer for the documentary. This film is about youth in Guatemala, Nicaragua and Cuba who are using hip-hop as a way of expressing themselves. In 2010 I worked as a cinematographer for the movie The Invisible City, a BAYCAT production (Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts and Technology). The movie is currently in post production. This is the teaser:
In December 2010 I was the editor for the documentary Three Drops of Water which will premiere June 26 at the Frameline San Francisco Film Festival. For more information on the documentary click here.
My thesis film for San Francisco State University was a short experimental documentary titled Invisible. The documentary explores the feeling of not belonging, of identity and loneliness. Shot in 16mm black and white I experimented with light and contrast. Then I incorporated the story of Hugo Tale-Yax. The story that made me produce this short in the first place. The short is currently showing in the San Francisco Short Film Festival and at the United Nations Association Film Festival at Stanford University.
I worked in a promotional video for the Boys and Girls club of San Francisco. This short promo video was made to promote the Boys and Girls camp in Mendocino County.
